There were certain, special days that stood out in elementary school. Field Day. Pizza Day. The day the Scholastic Book Club catalog arrived. We could load up on fun paperbacks. But Scholastic's big draw was its magazines. Wow was for the little kids; Bananas aimed for the teens. Then there was Dynamite, the awesome, rainbow-colored magazine for middle-schoolers.
Launched in 1974, Dynamite was like a cross of People and Highlights. Hawkeye and Radar from M*A*S*H appeared on the cover of the first issue. The final issue hit mailboxes in 1992.
The biggest celebrities (at least the ones kids cared about) of the late-1970s and early-1980s graced the covers. Here are some of our favorites.
