Do you think these should be considered Christmas movies?

Who doesn't love a good "yippee-kai-yay" at the holidays?

There are some films that you know you'll pull out at this time of year to enjoy. They have all the clear signs of being a Christmas movie; holiday tunes, baubles and trees galore, and likely a solid moral that encourages peace on earth and goodwill towards all. These are seasonal staples that you just can't refuse when they come up.

But what about those films that aren't "Christmas-specific", more like "Christmas-adjacent"? You know, movies that take place on or around the holidays but may not carry the same holly-jolly feelings that you'd usually expect.

We've compiled a list of films that are not-quite-Christmas movies and now we want to know your thoughts. Do you think these should be considered Christmas movies?

  1. We'll start easy: is Die Hard a Christmas movie? It takes place at the office holiday party, there are plenty of flashing lights and Santa Claus puns. What do you think?
  2. Is Holiday Inn a Christmas Movie? It may dance and sing around a handful of other holidays, but Christmas is clearly one of the most important ones.
  3. Here's a tricky one: is Edward Scissorhands a Christmas movie? Think about it; the premise for the movie is all about why the town now has snow for the holidays!
  4. OK. How about Lethal Weapon? It starts with an opening set to "Jingle Bell Rock" and ends with the family gathered around a Christmas tree.
  5. What about Gremlins? Gizmo was a Christmas gift to begin with, and those Gremlins do sing carols throughout the movie!
  6. Is The Swiss Family Robinson a Christmas movie? The whole family tries to keep their spirits up by singing "O Christmas Tree" together, and nothing screams the holidays like a zebra!
  7. How about The Blue Lagoon? Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins certainly do their best to remember Christmas traditions while stranded on an island.
  8. Is Batman Returns a Christmas movie? The whole thing is set around the holidays, and is jam-packed with the puns to prove it.
  9. Here's one we can all agree on: The Apartment. It's very distinctly set between Christmas and New Years Day, and has all the family drama one person could handle at the holidays.
  10. OK, OK, let's try one more... Everyone can agree that Trading Places is a holiday movie, right?
