Corvette Goes Into Production
The first Chevrolet Corvette went into production June 30, 1953, and sold for $3,000. The first 300 Corvettes produced were white and hand-built. The vehicle was designed to not only showcase American craftsmanship, but to create a car for the driver and favored design and speed.
