6 of the grooviest fashion looks on 'Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In'

When it comes to Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, there's so much to love. From the quick wit to the political jokes, it never fails to keep you laughing. It's also a groovy amalgamation of all things people associate with the 1960s, and that obviously includes the fashion.

Goldie Hawn and co. were always impeccably dressed — or undressed — in looks that completely embodied the era.

Here are some of the best that'll be sure to remind you of your old wardrobe or inspire you next time you're at the thrift store.

1

LBD/Scarf Combo

The best fashion scenes on Laugh-In were definitely the cocktail parties. There's a reason this woman with her shag were front and center: that backless little black dress, paired with an avocado green scarf. While the dress is timeless, the scarf and belt add a perfect amount of '60s flair. How could you resist dancing with that belt jingling around your waist?

2

Hot pants and leather boots

If you're going to a cocktail party but want to keep it a little more casual, opt for a tiny pair of shorts and your highest leather boots instead. The look says, "I want to be comfortable, but I'm still here to party." Do you think she would be able to keep her balance on that couch in a pair of heels?

The fab bell bottoms on top of the piano in the background deserve an honorable mention, too.

3

Orange shift dress

Whatever happened to matching our dresses to our hair accessories? This orange shift dress is perfect for the office or the weekend, especially tied together with that silk scarf. Sure, you might be hesitant to wear a color as bold as orange in this day and age, when everything seems to be black or gray. But imagine all the compliments you'd get if you took the plunge.

4

Big sleeves, little dress

In the late '60s, hemlines were getting so short it's a wonder that there was ever a time where showing off the space above your knees was considered unladylike. If you wanted to keep it a little more modest — but definitely still stylish — you could opt for a long-sleeved version. Bell-shaped or puff sleeves with cuffs gave the dress more of a hippie-influenced look, especially paired with a headband.

5

Red overalls

The only thing better than one pair of red overalls is three pairs of red overalls. In the 1960s and '70s, overalls were much more fitted than they were in the '90s and didn't have such a youthful connotation. In fact, we could even argue that paired with heels and these puff sleeves with long cuffs, the look is even kind of sexy!

6

Literally everything about this

We can't talk about fashion on Laugh-In without mentioning the "Bye Bye Sixties" number by Nancy Sinatra, Goldie Hawn and Ruth Buzzi that aired December 29, 1969. The little color-coordinated, mod outfits go perfectly with the twee singalong reminiscing about the "sexy," "long-hair," "no-bra," "micro-miniature" 1960s.
