'The Beverly Hillbillies' mansion is now the most expensive home you can buy in the U.S.

"Californy is the place you ought to be" was the advice Jed Clampett's kinfolk memorably gave him in The Beverly Hillbillies theme song, and it's apparently still true, as the mansion from the 1962 sitcom has just become the most expensive house listed in America today, valued at $350 million.

As reported by Bloomberg, the Chartwell estate in Bel-Air that we all remember so well from The Beverly Hillbillies is worth more than any other house currently on the market.

It's certainly a heck of a lot more than the $500 a day The Beverly Hillbillies crew paid to rent the estate to use as the show's set, but let's give Clampett his due: It's still considerably less than the $6.6 billion that Forbes estimated Jed Clampett would be worth if his TV story ever came true.
