Decades to air 'The Lost Honeymooners' episodes beginning Monday, October 1

On October 1, 1955, The Honeymooners premiered on CBS. The characters were hardly unfamiliar to audiences. Ralph, Alice, Ed and Trixie were born in a series of comedy sketches that aired in the early 1950s.

It all began in 1951 on Cavalcade of Stars, a variety series hosted by Jackie Gleason on the DuMont Television Network, the often forgotten fourth "big" network best known for broadcasting wrestling, NFL football and, well, Jackie Gleason in the Fifties. About a couple dozen skits featuring the Honeymooners aired over the course of a season.

The following year, Gleason jumped ship, bringing The Jackie Gleason Show and The Honeymooners to CBS. Between 1952–55, the Kramdens and the Nortons appeared in 84 Honeymooners sketches, leading up to the launch of their sitcom. More sketches continued to air on The Jackie Gleason Show in the 1956-57 season. Yes, there are far more Honeymooners than the "Classic 39" of The Honeymooners sitcom.

Now, on October 1, 2018, Decades is proud to present The Lost Honeymooners, an ongoing series that will air these sketches for the first time in years on broadcast television. Tune in each weeknight at 11pET | 8pET for The Lost Honeymooners.
