Decades presents the documentary special ''Pandemic Amnesia'' on January 21st
This special 30-minute documentary covers the influenza pandemic that swept the world a century ago. Pandemic Amnesia: Recovering the Memory of the 1918 Influenza Outbreak unfurls the society and culture of 1918 to investigate why an event so catastrophic failed to cling to any sort of collective remembrance. It’s a troublingly familiar tale of what gets remembered and what gets forgotten and, ultimately, the dire consequences for future generations of allowing stories to go untold.
"The story of the 1918 Pandemic is not widely known, yet today during the current Covid-19 outbreak, it is a story that is important to remember," said Neal Sabin, vice chairman of Weigel Broadcasting Co. "The DECADES Network is proud of our original documentaries. Pandemic Amnesia is a chance to bring history back to life and share a chapter that is incredibly relevant to current events."
As we grapple with the continued effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the DECADES TV Network turns the clock back to 1918, when a deadly influenza pandemic swept the globe and, in a matter of months, killed tens of millions. Despite its devastating toll, the pandemic was an omitted chapter in history.
