Eiffel Tower - Paris' Iron Lady

It’s a landmark that was the end result of a design competition for the entryway to the 1889 World’s Fair in Paris. An iron-lattice tower design won. The original design was tweaked by Gustave Eiffel who received credit for the tower. It would take two years for the tower to be completed. On March 31, 1889 a ceremony was held to honor the completion of Paris’s “Iron Lady” and also the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution.
