The 'Mary Tyler Moore' house is still for sale if you're still interested
If you've been keeping an eye on that Mary Tyler Moore Show house that's been for sale since June of 2012, you're in luck — the asking price has steadily fallen from $2.895 million to the current $1.695 million. Though the interior shots of Mary's apartment on The Mary Tyler Moore Show was mostly filmed on a soundstage, the Minneapolis mansion used in the exterior shots, located in Kenwood on the Lake of the Isles, has similar windows and a similar floor plan on the second floor as what was depicted on the show.
This 9,500-square-foot Victorian house was built in 1900 and is actually just a single-family home as opposed to a chic three-flat like it's portrayed in The Mary Tyler Moore Show. However, with nine bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, two half baths and a sauna — including separate nanny quarters — there are a whole lot of possibilities.
Since the house was used on TV, it's undergone a lot of remodeling. According to Twin Cities, the director of the Minneapolis Institute of Art of the house purchased it in 2007 for $2.895 million after the it was renovated in 2005. The original price was $1.105 million.
So dig through that pocketbook and maybe the Rhoda to your Mary can move in to the nanny quarters. If the price keeps dropping it won't stay on the market much longer!
