Total Eclipse of the Sun

"When a total solar eclipse happens, it's an awe-inspiring event, not just for what you're seeing in the sky, but what you're feeling all around you. Birds may be coming in to roost in trees because they think it's nighttime…there are a lot of animal behaviors that happen because they think it's getting dark." Michelle Nichols of Chicago’s Adler Planetarium explains the phenomenon that occurs during the moments of darkness during a total solar eclipse, such as the one that happened on this day, in 1932.
