1930s menswear made for the dance floor; exaggeratedly large and loose jacket and pants matched up with oversized accessories: The zoot suit, a “roomy” and extreme outfit designed to jitterbug. Zoot suits remained popular until mid-1940 when production was prohibited during the war because the suits used too much valuable fabric.
