NACA Founded

America may have been first in flight but aviation advances in Europe were surpassing the U.S. by 1914. The advisory committee was made up of 12 unpaid members with a budget of $5,000. Four decades later, the NACA had transformed the U.S. into an aeronautics leader. Its successor, NASA, would take over for the race to space.
