Monroe & DiMaggio Tie the Knot
It was a match combining the best of the sports world with all the glamour of Hollywood. Baseball’s Joe DiMaggio and Hollywood’s Marilyn Monroe married on January 14, 1954. When news of the wedding got out, fans crowded not only the San Francisco courthouse where the couple were wed but the airport in Tokyo where the couple landed for their honeymoon. The marriage of the decade ended only 274 days later after Monroe filed divorce from the violent-tempered DiMaggio.
