Lindbergh Flies Across the Atlantic

Piloting the Spirit of St. Louis, aviator Charles Lindbergh became the first person to fly-nonstop, solo, across the Atlantic. He completed the 3,600-mile trip in 34 hours in May of 1927. After his return to the U.S. he took the Spirit on a three-month tour to 49 states, welcomed by celebratory parades and cheering crowds in 92 cities.
