Henry Ford Sets Speed Record

The founder of the Ford Motor Company set a world speed record on January 12, 1904. Driving model 999, called the “Arrow Racer,” a vehicle with no hood, or body, and built on a wooden chassis, Ford and his mechanic friend, Ed “Spider” Huff, traveled one mile in 39.4 seconds at the breakneck speed of 91.4 miles per hour.
