First Airplane Flight Around the World
The 1920s were a decade of aviation advancement. One of the pivotal moments happened on September 28, 1924, as the first flight around the world was successfully completed. The U.S. Army used four planes with two-man crews. They took off from a field in north Seattle. By the time the trip was completed 176 days later, only two of the four original planes were still airborne, but they circled the globe for the first time.
