Comic Books Scare Parents

Today, comic books are part of our mainstream culture. But, in the early 1950s, comics turned from the heroics of Superman to a more sinister subject matter, making parents nervous. So, nervous, in fact, that on April 21, 1954, the U.S. Senate opened hearings on whether comic books were a threat to America’s youth.
