Chuck Yeager Breaks the Sound Barrier

Twenty-four-year-old Chuck Yeager became the fastest human on earth in 1946 when he ripped through the sky at 700 mph, faster than the speed of sound, breaking the sound barrier for the first time in level flight. Yeager, who became the most legendary test pilot of his era, continued “firsts” in a long line of post-war aerial breakthroughs.
