Charles Lindbergh: The Ride of a Lifetime

Charles Lindbergh was born to become the high-flying international sensation that we know him to be. A daredevil to great heights, as a young man he performed shocking stunts as a barnstormer. He then joined the Army Air Service and graduated top of his class. While working as the chief pilot of an air mail route with unpredictable conditions, Lindbergh gained invaluable experience. In 1927, what began as a competition to pilot the first non-stop transatlantic flight, would ultimately bring Lindbergh worldwide fame and recognition. A wealthy hotel owner offered $25,000 to the first pilot to do it. Jumping at the chance to make history, on May 20, 1927, Lindbergh set out for the ride of a lifetime.
