A standout among outlaws in the Wild West met her death on February 3, 1889. Belle Starr earned her reputation through a web of outlaw friends and dead husbands. She was known as the “Bandit Queen” and rode her horse while dressed in velvet skirts and feathered hats. Of all her crimes she was convicted for just one: horse stealing in 1883.
